Back to class

Our first day back to class was this past Monday.  We are back on our usual schedule, now, with the exception of Sunday class, which will start again on September 17, 2011, due to the Labor Day Holiday weekend.  Class will also not be held on Labor Day Monday, either.  I'm eager to get started again, and look forward to seeing all of you.

Summer break

The next session at the Alfond Center starts right after the July 4th holiday.  We are taking that session off.  In the meantime, we have class until that weekend, which includes a Shime clinic on June 26th.  We will resume class at the end of August.  Enjoy the break.

No class on Sunday

There will be no class on Sunday, April 17, 2011.  I will be out of town for a few days.  I will be back in time for class Monday evening.  Enjoy your weekend.

Yawara Clinic

The Sunday Class scheduled for March 20, 2011 will be a Yawara Clinic. We will start at the usual time of 9 AM. It is possible that class will run over a little in order to cover the entire list. The Yawara comprises twenty techniques emphasizing escape from grasps or holds, and illustrates the core concepts of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu.

No special equipment is needed for this clinic. This link will take you to a Google Doc version of the Yawara list for printing prior to the clinic.

Of myocardial infarctions and other minor irritations

Class is cancelled for Sunday, February 20, 2011. I have to fly to Los Angeles. My father had a heart attack. He's recovering slowly after a two-vessel stenting. I certainly appreciate the sympathy expressed by my students this evening. I was very touched.

Peter York will be taking class Monday night. Thanks Pete! Chris and Joe may be around to help out as well. I will be flying back Wednesday night, so class should be back to normal Thursday.
